Police
Message from Chief Harvey Baker
Welcome to the University Park Police Department. We are comprised of a group of experienced law enforcement professionals, who strive to provide proactive, fair, and impartial police service.
We employ the principles of community policing, respect for all people, and reverence for the law to ensure a safe and enjoyable quality of life for the citizens and visitors of the Town of University Park.
Police & Community Relationship
We believe Police at all times should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and that the public are the police; the police are the only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interest of community welfare (Peel, 1829).
I am proud and energized to lead the men and women of the University Park Police Department as we work together with the citizens to ensure public safety in University Park. I hope you will review the pages of our website to learn more about the Department and the Town of University Park. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at (301) 277-0050 ext. 300 or send me an email at hbaker@upmd.org.
