Debi Sandlin has more than 24 years of public service experience at the City and Town level and has dedicated her career to helping build better communities through improved municipal operations and the development of organizational policies and programs. Her extensive experience across a range of disciplines has helped lead the development of innovative local government programs, performance management initiatives, operational improvements, and the development of local and regional partnerships, resulting in long-term economic sustainability for the communities she has served.
She has considerable organizational leadership in budgetary principles and administration; strategic planning; organizational development; team building; and comprehensive project management skills within municipal government organizations. Additionally, she has a wealth of experience in economic development, urban revitalization planning, historic preservation policy development, and the development of sound land use policies and procedures.
Prior to joining the University Park team, Ms. Sandlin was the Town Manager for Bladensburg, MD, and the City Manager for Glenarden, MD. She has also served in several interim positions including the interim Town Manager for the Town of Garrett Park, the interim Assistant City Manager for Greenbelt, MD. and most recently, the interim Director of Community Development for the City of Hyattsville.
Ms. Sandlin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communications, is a University of Maryland Baltimore Public Administration Certified Public Manager, and a ICMA Credentialed Manager.
