SPECIAL SESSION TONIGHT
May 31st, 6:30PM
PEDESTRIAN BRIDGES
Neighbors -
Apologies for the late notice, but the Town Council will meet TONIGHT at 6:30PM primarily to consider approval of a contract to demolish and remove the pedestrian bridge crossing Wells Run at Wells Parkway and Beechwood, to construct two new pedestrian bridges where Beechwood and Van Buren intersect with Wells Parkway, and to provide for adequate soil/erosion/sediment control at the construction site. The State of Maryland provided a $125,000 grant, and the Town is responsible for the remaining portion of approximately $195,000 ($175,000 is budgeted and the remaining amount is in Reserves).
Other items for discussion tonight include:
- A budget amendment ordinance to leverage ARPA funds for the Town's portion of the pedestrian bridge construction vs. Reserve funds. This will ensure that these funds are officially obligated and protected from any potential recoupment prior to December 2024, the current date that unobligated ARPA funds must be sent back to the federal government.
- Two proclamations for the month of June: one to recognize our LGBTQ citizens during the month of June and the other to honor our African-American citizens' ancestors who struggled for centuries for the cause of freedom.
- A closed session to discuss the Town Administrator process.
