Special Session of the Town Council
Wednesday, September 14th, 6:30PM
The Town Council will meet remotely in a special session this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. To attend the virtual meeting, please see the Zoom and other connection information in the left-hand column.
Ordinarily, I would give you more notice than this, but the Town Council must meet quickly in order to send formal communications to the County Council in response to zoning legislation that seeks to neutralize the County Zoning Ordinance that was passed in April of this year.
The county's At-Large councilmembers recently filed multiple bills and put them on a fast-track for adoption. The bills that have been filed will allow developers to ignore smart growth principles and the impacts of climate change on development in our county. Additionally, one of the bills (CB-91) would require a County Council supermajority (8 out of 11 Councilmembers) to change the zoning code, essentially limiting the ability for the public to control developments around us.
For a more in-depth overview, please refer to County Councilmember Dannielle Glaros' recent communication, which is available at this link.
