Council Meeting This Monday

The Council will meet this Monday evening, November 15. The Council meeting will be conducted entirely remotely with no in-person meeting attendance.
The open meeting will begin at 7:15 p.m., at which time the Council will move to go into closed session to discuss (i) the appointment, employment, assignment, promotion, discipline, demotion, compensation, removal, resignation or performance evaluations of appointees, employees, or officials over whom it has jurisdiction; or (ii) any other personnel matter that effects one or more specific individuals. The open meeting will resume at 7:30 p.m. Join both open meetings as noted in the Zoom and other connection information.

Consent Agenda -- There are three items on the Consent Agenda. Consult the Agenda for details.
- Dumpster Permit Extension at 6909 Forest Hill Drive
- Install a basement egress window at 6504 43rd Avenue
- Connect a drainage pipe under the sidewalk at 6507 41st Avenue
Permits -- To replace approximately 514 linear feet of gas main and 7 house connections on the 4100 block of Van Buren Street and to authorize execution of an MOU for compensation in lieu of resurfacing, and the Town will contract with its own contractor to repair all impacted streets.

Speed Monitoring System -- To adopt Legislative Resolution 21-O-07 to authorize the placement of speed cameras on highways in residential districts with a maximum posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour to be operational 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Town Clerk Appointment – To approve the appointment of T’Alicandra Hegeman to the Town Clerk position beginning November 22.

Public Participation:
Participants who join the video/audio conference will be muted during the meeting except for Mayor, Council, and staff. Participants can turn their video on during the meeting, so we can all see each other, or can turn it off if they would rather. Participants will have the opportunity to speak during Public Comment - agenda item #6. During that time, all participants will be taken off mute. If you would like to comment, please state your name and Mayor Carey will call on you to speak. Public comments will be limited to three minutes.
Public comments or questions may also be made by emailing the Town Clerk Andrea Marcavitch at amarcavitch@upmd.org. All electronic comments must be submitted by 12 p.m. on November 15, 2021. Comments received will be read by the Town Clerk during public comment.
