The Council will meet this Tuesday evening, September 7, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Council meeting will be conducted entirely remotely with no in-person meeting attendance. Join the meeting as noted in the Zoom and other connection information. Of Interest: Gas-powered leaf blowers
--Public Hearing – I have announced a public hearing regarding Legislative Resolution 21-O-04 to prohibit use of gas-powered leaf blowers by January 1, 2023. If you have views on this legislation, please participate. The format of this public hearing will be a period of public comment prior to Council consideration of the Resolution, during which participants will have the opportunity to speak on this subject alone (public comment on other subjects may be made during the regular Public Comment period which will occur earlier in the meeting. This will follow the standard rules for Public Participation (below).
--Adoption of Legislative Resolution 21-O-04 to prohibit use of gas-powered leaf blowers by January 1, 2023. I anticipate from the Committee on Policy, Rules, and Municipal Structure that they will propose amendments to this legislation and request continuance (delay of consideration) to an October Council meeting.

Public Participation:
Participants who join the video/audio conference will be muted during the meeting except for Mayor, Council, and staff. Participants can turn their video on during the meeting, so we can all see each other, or can turn it off if they would rather. Participants will have the opportunity to speak during Public Comment - agenda item #6. During that time, all participants will be taken off mute. If you would like to comment, please state your name and Mayor Carey will call on you to speak. Public comments will be limited to three minutes.
Public comments or questions may also be made by emailing the Town Clerk Andrea Marcavitch at amarcavitch@upmd.org. All electronic comments must be submitted by 12 p.m. on September 7, 2021. Comments received will be read by the Town Clerk during public comment.
