The Council will meet this Monday evening, August 16, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Council meeting will be conducted entirely remotely with no in-person meeting attendance. Join the meeting as noted in the Zoom and other connection information.

Items on the Council Agenda include:
Presentation: Landscaping business owner Dan Wilson of Xavieran Landscapes to discuss how landscapers use gas-powered leaf blowers, the effects of a proposed ban on gas-powered leaf blowers on their services to University Park residents, and the availability and utility of battery powered leaf blowers for commercial landscape services.
Consent Agenda -- There are three items on the Consent Agenda. Consult the Agenda for details.
- To install a section of 6’ fence and a section of 4’ fence in the rear yard at 6507 43rd Avenue.
- To install a 4’ fence at 6909 Forest Hill Drive
- To install a screened porch at 4102 Tennyson Road
- Block party/street closure for Sheridan Street from 5-10 p.m. on September 25
- Special Utility Permit for Washington Gas to work in the Town’s right-of-way to install 5 test stations along Queens Chapel Road from East West Highway to Underwood Street.
- Special Utility Permit for PEPCO vegetation management for tree pruning along power lines in Ward 7.

Adoption of Emergency Legislative Resolution:
Purchase of Garage – To authorize acquisition of certain real property located at 4201 48th Street, Bladensburg.
Adoption of Emergency Legislative Resolution: FY22 Budget Adjustments – To recognize American Rescue Plan funds as a revenue line item and a new expenditure line item and to allocate $375,000 of ARP funds toward acquisition of 4201 48th Street, Bladensburg.
Town Code Revision – Discussion of proposed changes to Chapters 1-4 of the Town Code.
Appointment to Committee – To consent to the appointment of Dr. Karin Burghardt as a member of the Committee on Trees, Parks, and Environment.
Western Gateway Project – to refer concerns about Guilford Woods and the Western Gateway Project to the Development Overview Committee to hear presentations from all sides and recommend appropriate action to the Council.

Public Participation:
Participants who join the video/audio conference will be muted during the meeting except for Mayor, Council, and staff. Participants can turn their video on during the meeting, so we can all see each other, or can turn it off if they would rather. Participants will have the opportunity to speak during Public Comment - agenda item #8. During that time, all participants will be taken off mute. If you would like to comment, please state your name and Mayor Carey will call on you to speak. Public comments will be limited to three minutes.
