Neighbors --
There will be a July 4 Independence Day parade in University Park this year. It will start at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 4 from the usual spot -- the top of Queens Chapel Road adjacent to the Town Hall. We plan to include horse-mounted officers from the M-NCPPC Police and possibly more. All are welcome to participate. Please join in the parade, or line Queens Chapel Road at 1 p.m. as the parade proceeds down the road to end at Underwood Street and University Park Elementary School. Let's enjoy and celebrate our liberties this July 4.
A Call for volunteers: We need one or more volunteers to help organize some of the special elements -- decorating pets, bicycles, parents and children, and the children's bicycle division -- which have made the Independence Day parade traditionally a favorite Town event. Without volunteers, these favorite parts may not happen. Please email me at mayorcarey@upmd.org or call me at 240-338-2826 to tell me you will help. No experience is needed, though volunteers who have done this before will share their advice. The Town will reimburse a volunteer who will purchase decorating supplies.
