University Park
On or about September 23, 2024, crews implemented a new traffic pattern on University Boulevard between Carroll Avenue and Edwards Place. Traffic was shifted to the north onto the newly widened University Boulevard for crews to reconstruct the south side of University Boulevard in this area. University Boulevard will continue to have a minimum of two lanes of traffic in each direction. Access to businesses and for pedestrians will be maintained.
The long-term traffic pattern on University Boulevard between Piney Branch Road and Carroll Avenue continues to establish a work zone in the middle of the roadway. Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained on the outside lanes of University Boulevard. Work may take place 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and weekends, as needed.
The right-hand turn lane on southbound New Hampshire Avenue onto University Boulevard remains closed through November 2024. This closure was put in place to continue curb and sidewalk reconstruction.
College Park
On or about September 16, 2024, crews implemented a temporary traffic shift on Adelphi Road at Campus Drive. Northbound Adelphi Road was reduced to one through lane at the intersection. Left turns from north and southbound Adelphi Road onto Campus Drive were eliminated during this time. This traffic shift facilitates track construction across the intersection. Please follow the posted signage. Work may occur 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays and weekends, as needed through January 2025.
A long-term road closure of Rossborough Lane between Route 1 and Diamondback Drive continues. The closure is to complete stormwater drainage system installation, roadway reconfiguration and the construction of the Baltimore Avenue - UMD Station. Local access is maintained, and vehicular and pedestrian detours are in place. Work may occur 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays and weekends, as needed.
Campus Drive is now open from Presidential Drive to Adelphi Road. A work zone remains in the center of Campus Drive to allow the construction of the Adelphi Road - UMGC - UMD Station and tracks. Work may take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays and weekends, with night work as necessary. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
Riverdale/Riverdale Park
On or about September 17, 2024, crews established a work zone in the center of Kenilworth Avenue from River Road to East-West Highway to allow track installation. At that time, left turns will be restricted onto Kenilworth Avenue from Rittenhouse Street (eastbound) and from Rittenhouse Street onto Kenilworth Avenue (westbound). This restriction will be in place until December 2024. Work may occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays and weekends, as needed.
On or about October 9, 2024, crews will open the signalized intersection at 67th Avenue and Riverdale Road. At the same time, crews will temporarily close 66th Avenue at Riverdale Road until January 2025. This closure will allow track installation across 66th Avenue and sidewalk reconstruction. Work typically occurs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. but may continue nights and weekends, as necessary. Pedestrian access will
be maintained.
On or about October 9, 2024, crews will permanently close 67th Place at Riverdale Road and reconfigure 67th Place into a cul-de-sac. Pedestrians will be temporarily required to use 67th Avenue to access Riverdale Road.
