Announcement: New Chief of Police for University Park
Town Council officially appointed David Coleman as the Chief of Police for the Town of University Park during their meeting on April 7, 2025. Chief Coleman brings over two decades of dedicated service in law enforcement to our community. His duties will commence on May 5, 2025.
Starting as a Patrol Officer with the Prince George’s Police Department in 2003, Coleman has steadily advanced through the ranks, gaining extensive experience in a variety of roles. A recognized expert in human trafficking, he has worked with numerous Nongovernmental Organizations and presented to various community groups and government agencies.
With experience in media relations, policy development, and recruitment, Chief Coleman is committed to enhancing community relations and modern policing practices. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Grove City College and recently completed the prestigious Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command.
We are excited to welcome him to the University Park Police Department and look forward to his leadership!
